Grimes thought the river was unmade, and that he, his culture would make it. But the river was already made.

The Yarra River, Birrarung, meanders from the foothills of Mt Baw Baw to Port Phillip Bay.

My gaze alights on the water, on this spot on the river, here where the water is turning around, where the currents turn the water in tightening circles. I can’t turn away.
